August Newsletter

August has been an exciting month. As summer comes to a close, we are reflecting on all God is doing to advance his Kingdom, in just one short month! He is forever steadfast and faithful, and His goodness is evident.

Agape Fellowship Leader’s Summit

We were honored to attend the Agape Leaders Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya this year, and be given the opportunity to share with 300 pastors and leaders from across East Africa. While gathered, these leaders took time to focus and unite under the principle of stewardship, found in Luke 12:42. We are grateful to have leaders focused on the faithful and wise stewardship of all the Lord has given to us, both in resources, gifting, and calling. We know God will use this strategic time together to unify and multiply all he is doing through Agape Fellowship.

Village Update

Last month, we shared that drilling had begun in the village of Ompolion. It is with great joy that we can report to you that water has been struck, and that this borehole will soon be providing the critical resource of clean water to the residents of Ompolion. This fresh water well will be officially opened and dedicated to the community on our upcoming mission trip! We are looking forward to the stories of life change we will share with you next month because of the tangible gift of water, and the eternal gift of the Good News that has been brought to this community.

The personal testimony of Agnes, a woman impacted by all God has done in Apriki, highlights the complete life change that can occur in a family through the call to go, love in tangible ways, and share the hope we have been given.

Our Discipleship Team first encountered Agnes, as we entered Apriki to work with the community, prior to the provision of critical resources, and the launch of the church. Our first Discovery Bible Study Group was held in her home. Upon our first visit, her son who had been suffering from mental illness, which not only affected his quality of life, but that of his family also, was miraculously healed through prayer and an encounter with God. Through this experience, the whole family accepted Christ and was saved! Agnes and her family went on to join the church launched in Apriki. She still takes a lead role in the Water User Committee, that was established to ensure the water source given to the community stays in good working order. Agnes was brought to tears as she recalled the hardships and disease her family faced before the church brought clean water and hope to the community. Not only is Agnes now healthy, her son is healed, and she is walking in hope and purpose. As God continues to work in the life of her family, most recently she had a family member accept the call into full time ministry, and join the Jesus Harvesters Agape Bible College!

What an amazing testimony of the power of the Gospel to change generations, here on earth and into eternity. It is always amazing to see how God uses critical resources, and our willingness to share the power of His love and truth, to foster the advancement of the gospel!

Looking Forward

Speaking of mission, a group from the US is headed to Kenya this Sunday, August 31st. While in country, the group will mentor at the Jesus Harvesters Agape Bible College, dedicate the well in Ompolion, and serve the community through a medical mission trip. In each of these ways, this group will seek to share the love of God, and the hope that can only be found in Jesus. We are grateful for those he has called to this work, and for each soul we know will be saved, and every believer that will be strengthened by their obedience.
