January Newsletter

This January has been an incredible start to the new year, and God has moved in incredible ways. We continue to be grateful for the work He has allowed us to participate in and are excited to share what is happening at Foundations for Hope this month.

This month, we made great strides in the Bible College, which is becoming a reality. We received local permits and authorizations to begin construction at the beginning of January. By the close of this month, the Foundations for Hope Board of Directors approved hiring the contractor who will oversee the project. Construction crews will be on site this week to begin the construction process.

We continue to see success in the Discipleship Program, which our East Africa Discipleship Coordinator, Stephen Mukongolo, leads. Much of this month was spent working in Malindi, Kenya, to prepare for the village’s church launch and leave a discipleship structure for the new believers who came to know Christ during the week. The attention of this program will now turn to preparation for the February mission in Katilisha, Kenya.

Agape Fellowship-East Africa

This month, Agape Fellowship Center, in partnership with Jesus Harvesters Ministry and our F4H East Africa staff, launched a church in Malindi, Kenya. As with every new village reached, teams worked in the area to share the Gospel before the week of the church launch and dedication. Jesus Harvesters Ministry brought a group of twenty-two U.S. missionaries, including six doctors, ten nurses, a pharmacist, and a mission pastor, to join sixty local missionaries from Agape Fellowship, to serve the needs of this community. Throughout the week, the team held five days of free medical clinics, crusades, and worship to reach the community with the Gospel. On day six of the mission, the new church was dedicated, and a service was held. The medical clinic saw and treated 1079 patients, and we are thrilled to report that 459 souls gave their lives to Christ during this week!

Our East Africa Director, Peter Mugodo, said this week, “We thank God for allowing us to plant a church in Malindi and show love to His people by providing medical treatment. 1079 people were attended to at the clinics and consequently, 459 souls gave their lives to Christ. These include youths and adults. A Muslim man said ‘nimechoka na uisilamu, nataka Yesu anibadilishe’ meaning I am tired of Islam, I need Jesus to change me. We are grateful to our coworkers, Agape Fellowship Centre, and Jesus Harvesters Ministries for this partnership.”

This is a miracle, and we rejoice with all of heaven. We are grateful to everyone who gave their time and talents to bring the Gospel to Malindi. We ask that your prayers be with the new believers in Malinidi, those who will lead and disciple them, and the missionaries as they return home..

The Vine-Haiti

With the continued violence, rioting, and social unrest that threatens the people of Haiti, The Vine continues to be one of the only schools that can operate in its area. This week, as these threats moved closer to their community, the school has had to close temporarily for the safety of its staff and students. The Vine works to be a light in its community by providing students with a Christ-centered education and nutrition program. We ask that you pray for our Lord’s hand of protection upon the families and staff of The Vine, and that the troubles that continue to threaten the people of Haiti will end.
